Hi friends.
This week, we spent our time evenly split between exploring Colorado Springs and just taking it easy, living life on the road. That’s one thing that we remind ourselves of often. We don’t always need to be doing some crazy adventure – just living in peaceful settings are worthy of our time. After all, it’s vanLIFE. We will be doing this for a while and only stop when we’re ready for the next chapter of our lives, whenever that may be. It’s nice having a balance between seeing new things and also relaxing.
We started off this week dispersed camping in the mountains surrounding Colorado Springs. It’s always fun whenever we get to do so. Between walking Pepper Jack off-leash, having a quiet and peaceful place to set up, and getting to be out in nature, it feels amazing. Even when we aren’t doing dispersed camping, we spend a lot of our time in public parks to get our work done. On breaks, we run and play with Pepper Jack, which gives us all a little more life after staring at screens for so long.
One morning, we woke up early to catch the sunrise at Garden of the Gods. When the sun rose over the mountains, it lights up the rocks so bright that it looks like flames. Travis and I have both been here before individually, but it was nice to go back together. We hiked around the park, and get some amazing shots while were at it. You can’t go to Colorado Springs area without making a stop at Pike’s Peak. It’s a long, steep, but beautiful drive up the mountain side to the top. The views from the top are unreal, and absolutely beautiful.
One thing we both felt we haven’t done enough of while out in Colorado is hiking. So on Saturday, we made it a priority to do decently long one. We hiked up Legault Mountain, which found us doing a little over 8 miles. Luckily, most of the hike was done in the shade. That helped us keep us cool on these 90+ degree days. I’ve probably said it a million times before, but I’m so looking forward to cooler weather.
We have one more week in Colorado, before we fly to Toledo for a weekend and then start making our way east.
Thanks for reading.
Leece.
