Hi friends.
It’s insane how fast the time goes when you’re having fun. We have been visiting friends and family within the northeast, specifically Connecticut and New York. It’s felt so good being able to connect with people in person for the first time since the pandemic. It seems like life is slowly starting to get back to normal.
Since Travis and I are vaccinated, it personally makes us feel more comfortable with meeting up. My anxiety surrounding COVID has dropped significantly. It’s been both nice and strange to start doing more things and seeing people without this lingering fear of potentially getting really sick or spreading it someone more vulnerable.
Week 5 started off with visiting with some friends in Saratoga Springs, before making our way to Clifton Park to visit with Travis’s brother Mark, his wife Nicole, their daughter Gracie & their newest addition – a son named Ryan. Ryan was born on June 2 and is the most cuddly and sweet little baby.
Gracie is such a fun and lively kid. It was cute to see her adjusting to this new role being the older sibling. She also loved spending time with PepperJack and started saying his name. He absolutely loves her and in general is super protective over his little cousins. He’s so attentive and gives them plenty of kisses. PepperJack really is the sweetest dog. I can’t wait to see him as a big brother when Travis and I decide to have a family of our own.
After New York, we made our way to Avon, CT and visited with my uncle Dan and his girlfriend Gabriella. We caught each other up with life updates, went for a hike, played a game, and saw a movie. (The Mitchells vs. the Machines on Netflix is hilarious.) I used to work in Avon, so it was interesting to see how much certain things have changed.
Lastly, we ended off the week in Norwalk, CT, while stopping in to visit some friends along the way. Pepper Jack had fun running around with other dogs at the dog park or in our friend’s yards while we were catching up. We love whenever he can get more extended interactions with dogs as well as all of the exercise that comes along with it.
Norwalk has a special place in both Travis’s and my heart. It’s where Travis lived before we moved in together and we have a lot of great memories in the town. When in town, we were able to have our first D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) game in person since the start of the pandemic with our couples group. We’ve been getting together to play on a monthly basis for a few years now. Going forward, we will still do virtually from the road, while our friends will start to get together in person.

Of course, a trip to Norwalk wouldn’t be the same without a quick trip to some of our favorite restaurants. We always stop by Speedy Donuts for donuts, bacon, and home fries. It’s the best around and was our favorite place to go for breakfast before a road trip. We also stopped by Mainport Fish & Chips for a late-night bite. Even though it’s a place with “Fish & Chips” in the name, we only ever get their popcorn chicken and fries, with hot sauce of course. After a night of drinking in town, we used to grab some and walk back to Travis’s apartment. We did the same tonight – though the walk was back to the van, parked outside of a friends house.
Let’s Discuss! Comment Below:
