Hi Friends.
If you read last week’s recap post, you saw how busy we were running around from place to place. It was fun – but this week we wanted to spend a little more time relaxing and hanging out.
We started off this week in Oneonta, NY. Travis went to SUNY Oneonta for college, so it was fun for both of us to come back to the area. I always love hearing Travis’s stories from his college days and seeing where they happened. Oneonta is a really pretty small town, settled between some mountains. There’s plenty of pretty views and good mountain biking and hiking.
We spent our days hanging out in the park, working, and relaxing. At night we hung out with some of Travis’s friends that still live in the area.
Oneonta has some delicious food – and Tino’s Pizza is one of our favorites. Tino’s Pizza is known for its cold cheese pizza. Essentially, it’s a slice of cheese pizza – straight from the oven, and then you add some cold mozzarella cheese on top. It’s incredible and I highly recommend that you try it at least once in your life. Though, to be fair, it’s hard to beat NY Pizza. We also went to the Yellow Deli – which has fresh sandwiches and salads, along with some amazing baked goods. Their banana bread is to die for.
When the weekend hit, we decided to first go to New Paltz before heading over to Phonecia. New Paltz is a cute town in the Hudson Valley. It’s full of small boutiques and is close to a lot of outdoor activities. We walked around some stores and I was drawn to a moon pendant. After walking around, our original plan was to go to Minnewaska and go hiking. It was where we went for one of our first all day dates. It’s also the place we got engaged. However, the weather was incredibly sunny and hot.
We eventually went to another hike nearby that was easier and in more shade. After, we decided to make our way to Mountain Brauhaus – an amazing german restaurant. We have tried to eat here several times over the past few years and we never were able to get a table. Luckily, this day we finally were able to be seated right away. It was definitely worth the wait.
Some exciting events happened this week. First and most importantly, our newest nephew, Ryan Austin Norman, was born! He is so precious and we can’t wait to meet him.
Next, Travis and I decided to get new tattoos. I’ll wait to reveal his until it’s entirely done. Mine is a Rosemary spring – a coverup. The first tattoo was a simple compass. While I loved it at the time, it just didn’t seem to fit me anymore. This time around, I opted for something with a little more style. I went to a reputable tattoo shop and got something that will stick with me as I age. My tattoo artist did an amazing job and I couldn’t be more thankful.
Next week we are visiting with family and friends throughout New York & Connecticut.
